When the Indiana Pacers traded for Jeff Teague, it seemed like a case of Larry Bird getting a guy he had already been after. Rumors at the trade deadline back in February suggested the Pacers president was trying to make this move months ago.
But according to Bird, speaking at a July 8 press conference, this was the first time that Indiana tried to trade for Jeff Teague.
“I heard last year that we were after him, and I don’t think there’s any truth to that,” said Bird. “I knew it was going to have to be a three-team deal to get Jeff.
