Indiana Pacers rookie point guard Joe Young recently got a taste of D-League basketball. With two games over the weekend, the team sent down the 23-year-old to play with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and get some reps since he isn’t getting any run at the major league level.
He scored 27 points, albeit alongside 7 turnovers and in a loss, in his first outing while playing 39 minutes. Then Young followed that up with 17 points in a W for the Fightin’ Ants.
Upon his return to the Pacers, Young spoke with Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports about how he is just trying to stay ready and his plans to “put on a show” next time he goes down to the minors.
