In a move that has seemed inevitable since the Indiana Pacer signed Aaron Brooks, the team announced that it has waived seldom-used big man Shayne Whittington.
Adding Brooks as a backup guard gave Indiana 16 players under contract and the maximum roster size once the season begins is 15. Somebody had to go, and since Whittington’s contract was not guaranteed for the coming year, he was the obvious choice to cut. The move will cost Whittington roughly $1 million.
This leaves the Pacers with 15 players under contract: Paul George, Myles Turner, Jeff Teague, Monta Ellis, Thaddeus Young, Al Jefferson, C.
