UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Earlier this week, Indiana head coach Amanda Janney explained how she wants the end result of her style of play to resemble the philosophy at Wake Forest, her alma mater.
Janney's former head coach, Jennifer Averill, employs a quick tempo on offense with fast passing and finesse that pushes past opposing defenses. Averill, still coaching at Wake Forest, developed a style that Janney admires and hopes to achieve at Indiana.
On Friday afternoon at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex, Janney and the Hoosiers (1-2) found a way to beat Wake Forest (1-2) for the first time in program history, a gripping 1-0 victory to give Indiana their first win of the season.
