HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – Indiana wrestling junior Cole Weaver (141) earned a runner-up finish in the 55th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern University at Sears Centre Arena. Weaver's second-place standing is the highest by a Hoosier at Midlands since Taylor Walsh (165), who won it all in 2014.
The ninth Midlands finalist in program history and the first at 141 lbs., Weaver lost his final match of the weekend, a 7-0 decision, to No. 9 Mason Smith (Central Michigan).
Weaver (19-5) is off to his best career start in an inspirational junior season.
