Bender, an incoming junior for the Indiana Hoosiers, claimed medalist honors with rounds of 65-68 for a total score of 133 (-11). That was the best performance of the day, earning him a three-stroke margin of victory over Snoeberger for the medalist distinction. Bender was bogey-free in his first round with a torrid stretch of four birdies in five holes from 14-18 playing particularly key in what resulted in the best round of the day. His afternoon round featured two eagles highlighting his scorecard which came on the par-five 2nd and 18th holes. The fantastic performance results in what will be the first USGA National Championship of Bender’s young career.
