Report: Scholarship limit in basketball increasing from 13 to 15

According to a Yahoo Sports report, scholarship limits in men’s and women’s basketball are expected to increase.

Ross Dellenger of Yahoo reported Wednesday that conference commissioners have finalized roster limits beginning with the 2025-26 academic year.

The new limit for men’s and women’s basketball scholarships will increase from 13 to 15.

Other expected increases: football going from 85 scholarships to 105, baseball going from 11.7 scholarships to 34, softball from 12 scholarships to 25 and volleyball from 12 scholarships to 18.

Also of note from Dellenger’s reporting:

Another key change to the scholarship structure: All sports will be considered “equivalency sports,” meaning partial scholarships can be distributed to players.
