He stood alone in the endzone, signature Indiana hat and black coat on, addressing ESPN after the Hoosiers’ win over Wisconsin in Madison.
Well, he was alone.
First came a pat on the back from a lineman. Then a bear hug from Javon Swinton. Finally, Allen couldn’t even get to the mic to answer a question because Stevie Scott and Jamar Johnson had thrown their arms around him.
“Right here? Best coach in the nation right here!” Scott said.
Every time Allen went to continue the interview he was interrupted. As he was patting them on the back on their way back to the locker room another player would run over with warm words or an embrace.
