BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 16 Indiana Softball split day one of the Purple and Gold Challenge, highlighted by a 7-3 win against No. 10 LSU in the nightcap. Along with Indiana's Feb. 10 win against then-No. 6 Georgia, it is believed to be the first time in program history the Hoosiers have beaten two top-10 teams in one season.
The first game of the day saw the Hoosiers' winning streak come to an end at 14 games as they dropped their first game of the 2019 season.
