One of Tom Crean’s former guards hit the game-winning shot in Tuesday’s championship game of The Basketball Tournament.
It just wasn’t the one readers of this blog were pulling for.
No, it was Travis Diener, the former Marquette standout, who drilled the walk-off 3-pointer that lifted No. 4 seed Golden Eagles to a 78-73 victory over Mo Creek’s No. 22 Sideline Cancer.
Creek poured in a game-high 20 points in the loss, going 8-for-12 from the field and hitting a pair of 3-pointers. Creek averaged 15.6 points during Sideline Cancer’s five-game run to the final round, doing his part with several clutch shots on the way to the title game.
