PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A gem on the mound was spoiled by a late comeback, as the Indiana baseball program dropped a 4-2 decision at Rutgers on Saturday (April 16) at Bainton Field.
Only three innings saw runs scored, as Rutgers (29-6, 10-1 B1G) scored first with a single run in the third inning. Indiana (13-20, 2-6 B1G) jumped in front with two runs in the fifth inning, before the Scarlet Knights plated three runs in the eighth to jump in front for good.
The right arm of redshirt-junior starting pitcher Jack Perkins gave Indiana a chance to win with a career-high seven innings of work (120 pitches) and just one run allowed.
