Just days after landing on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list IU running back Stevie Scott III has been attached to another award.
On Wednesday the PwC SMU Athletic Forum released its list of preseason candidates for the 2019 Doak Walker Award and the sophomore was included. Other candidates include Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor, Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins and Boston College’s AJ Dillon. Scott is one of 17 sophomores among the 72 candidates. He’s also one of eight representatives of the Big Ten on the list.
The award is named for former SMU running back and three-time All-American Doak Walker and is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
