TOKYO – Indiana University's Lilly King won yet another gold medal at an international meet on Thursday, winning the 100m breaststroke at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo.
King, the reigning Olympic champion and world-record holder in the event, won with a time of 1:05.44 – the second-fastest time in the world this year.
Along with King's gold, Indiana postgraduate swimmer Zane Grothe took silver in the men's 1500m freestyle, touching with a time of 14:48.40. Grothe's time ranks as the sixth-best in the world this year.
Also, in the men's 1500m freestyle, incoming freshman Michael Brinegar had a great showing, posting the eighth-fastest time in the event at 15:07.
