Indiana’s Curt Cignetti was named the Home Depot National Coach of the Year during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN on Thursday night.
It’s his first national coach of the year award after previously being named Big Ten Coach of the Year by the league’s media and coaches. He joins fellow Indiana coaches Bo McMillin, John Pont and Tom Allen as national coach of the year award recipients.
Cignetti has won the conference coach of the year award at each of his head coaching stops, now including Indiana. His Hoosiers won 11 games this season, a program record for wins in any season overall, not just a coach’s first.
