Another Hoosier is set to join the professional ranks as former Indiana forward Mackenzie Holmes was selected by the Seattle Storm with the 26th pick in the 2024 WNBA draft earlier tonight:
Despite offseason knee surgery and plans to spend the 2024 season recovering, Holmes entered her name in the draft with the hope that she’d be good to go by training camp in 2025.
Simply put, Holmes is the greatest player in the history of Indiana women’s basketball. The Gorham, Maine native finished her five-year career as the program’s all-time scoring leader and led the Hoosiers to their first Big Ten title in 40 years (2023), three Sweet Sixteens (2021-22, 24) and an Elite Eight (2021).
