The Indiana women’s basketball program (21-11) got its second NCAA tournament victory ever and first since 1983 by knocking off Georgia (21-10) 62-58 in South Bend, Indiana. Tyra Buss led the way with 23 points, 17 in the second half.
Coming into the game the Hoosiers knew that one of Georgia’s biggest strengths was its three-point defense. True to form, the Bulldogs held Indiana to just 28.6 percent shooting from deep. Therefore, Indiana resorted to drives by Buss and post-ups by Amanda Cahill (14 points, six rebounds) and Jenn Anderson (five points, three rebounds) to try to open up the court and find better looks.
