Indiana men’s basketball scouting report: Tayton Conerway

Indiana head coach Darian DeVries likely found his starting point guard in Tayton Conerway, a senior guard joining Indiana after two seasons at Troy.

As the Sun Belt Player of the Year last season, he averaged an impressive 14.2 points per game, to go along with 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.9 steals. With an offensive usage rate of 27.5%, he was the focal point for the Trojan offense last year.

With the increased workload, Conerway took more 3-pointers and saw his shooting percentage suffer as a result. Though he averaged four attempts from deep per game, 62% of his field goal attempts came at the rim, so it wasn’t a huge part of his scoring.
