In a new development, alcohol will now be served at Memorial Stadium this fall during Indiana football games, per a release.
Announced Tuesday, beer and wine will be available for all 21+ year old attendees at the football games.
What has been a big discussion for the past couple of years, Indiana now becomes the sixth Big Ten school to institute this new rule, in addition to Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois, Minnesota and Maryland.
In the release made by the Athletic Department and University, Athletic Director and Vice President Fred Glass also issued this statement,
“Our main goals with this initiative are to enhance the gameday experience for our fans and reduce alcohol-related incidents in and around the stadium… While there will be some comparatively modest revenue generated by these sales, that is not the primary purpose of this program.
