True freshman offensive lineman Kahlil Benson will miss the 2020 season after suffering an ACL tear, IU coach Tom Allen announced.
Benson, considered the No. 44 offensive guard nationally in the 2020 recruiting cycle by 247 Sports, went down with his injury during practice last week. It was unlikely that he would have been a major contributor on game days this fall, but during a year when redshirts are off the table, his size and length would have been a welcome presence on the depth chart.
The 6-foot-6, 332-pound Mississippi native signed with Indiana in February, choosing the Hoosiers over offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Memphis, Kentucky and Southern Mississippi, among others.
