As Jerod Morris of the Assembly Call pointed out on X after Indiana’s loss to Purdue, the Hoosiers are in the 98th percentile in the country on the amount of long 2s they’re taking. But they’re making just 26 percent and scoring only .53 points per possession on them, which ranks 305th nationally.
Long 2s are usually an inefficient shot that a lot of teams have removed or lessened in their shot diets. But the Hoosiers are instead compounding that inefficiency by taking a lot of them compared to the rest of the country and not knocking them down.
