BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The adage goes: momentum is the next days starting pitcher, however, on Sunday (May 1) momentum came in the form of reliever Reese Sharp and an eight-run fifth inning to propel the Indiana baseball program to an 11-7 victory over Illinois to earn the series victory at Bart Kaufman Field.
Illinois (23-18, 12-6 B1G) struck first with two runs in the first inning, before Indiana (20-24, 6-9 B1G) plated three in the bottom of the inning. The Fighting Illini grabbed the momentum back with a five-run third, before the Hoosiers' eight-run fifth capped the scoring.
