On March 8, Indiana men's golf alum Jorge Campillo earned a dramatic victory in the Qatar Masters, defeating David Drysdale in a five-hole playoff. He finished the event at 13-under-271, and fought back after surrendering the lead in the final round. It marked his second European Tour victory after winning the Trophee Hassan II in 2019.
Campillo played at Indiana from 2006-09 and was a two-time All-American and Big Ten Player of the Year selection. In 2008, he was one of only three golfers in IU history to win a Big Ten championship, Big Ten Golfer of the Year and the Les Bolstad Award in the same season.
