NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Illinois State's women's basketball team could not overcome 27.5 percent field goal shooting and 25 turnovers Wednesday night as the Redbirds dropped a 60-47 nonconference decision to Yale at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
Shakeela Fowler scored 19 points to lead ISU (1-8), which trailed 21-20 at the half and 42-32 after three quarters. The Redbirds were 14 of 51 from the field, including 2 of 11 from 3-point range.
ISU was outscored 21-12 in the pivotal third quarter.
“The turnovers and their third-quarter run were the issues for us,” ISU coach Barb Smith said.
