With Wichita State joining the American Athletic Conference, the top spot in the Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball standings is up for grabs more than it has been for years.
Some teams have strong nuclei returning, so this could be a year when a program that finished down in the standings last season could make a big jump. MVC coaches took a look ahead Tuesday during the annual summer teleconference.
“There’s never been a year in the Valley where the preseason predictions will mean nothing,” said Loyola coach Porter Moser. “They will mean nothing. A lot of newcomers will have an impact.
