ST. LOUIS – Third-year sophomore defender Malte Winkler (Eppingen, Germany) made the most of his second career start last week against Eastern Illinois and Tuesday he was recognized for his efforts in Bradley's 3-2 win when he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office this afternoon.
Winkler, who had appeared in only six games during his first two seasons at Bradley, received his second career start at right back in Wednesday's season-opener against the Panthers at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex Slugger Dome.
