Eugene, Ore. – Wilma Nielsen of the Bradley track and field team concluded her outstanding rookie season at the NCAA Championship on Thursday.
Just the third runner in program history to reach the championship rounds, Nielsen received honorable-mention All-America honors in the 800m run after placing 22nd at Oregon, clocking a time of 2:07.78. She also finishes her rookie season as the third-best freshman in the country in the event.
As a rookie, Nielsen earned All-Valley honors on four occasions (cross country, indoor 800m, indoor mile, outdoor 800m) and was named the MVC Indoor Track Freshman of the Year.
