Wicklund softened Illinois-Chicago’s hitters for six innings Tuesday as the Redbirds blanked the Flames, 4-0, in nonconference baseball action at Duffy Bass Field.
Wicklund, who had struck out three in his first 10u2153 innings this season, fanned five and walked none over six innings to run his record to 2-0.
Wicklund received early support from third baseman Joe Aeilts. After Jordan Libman took a full-count pitch for a two-out walk, Aeilts blasted a two-run home run to left field.
