NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State football running back Wenkers Wright is raising money for his family in Haiti through merchandise using his name, image and likeness with 100 percent of the proceeds to go to his family.
Wright and his brother, Gregory, who are the youngest of seven, were adopted from Haiti at ages of 3 and 5. Growing up, Wright began playing soccer before transitioning to football in the third grade and has not looked back since.
The Wright family has been able to stay in touch with Wenkers' and Gregory's biological family through Facebook, sharing photos and videos so that they can see how well the boys have been doing through the last 15 years.
