VALPARAISO, IN – Senior guards Tatum Koenig (27 points) and Chloe Rice (14) both scored career-highs, but visiting Bradley (4-17, 1-11 MVC) came up on the wrong end of consecutive foul calls in the final minute and Valparaiso (8-15, 6-6 MVC) took advantage of the 5-point swing for an 86-84 Missouri Valley Conference victory Thursday night at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Koenig surpassed her previous career-best of 23 points, which she had reached for the third time in Saturday's 77-67 win against Evansville, but her shot at a 30-point night was wiped out with 53 seconds remaining in the game when she was called for a charge, rather than earning a trip to the free throw line to complete an "and-1" play that could have given the Braves an 81-80 lead.
