VALPARAISO, Ind. — A second consecutive abysmal shooting performance doomed the Illinois State women's basketball team to a 56-50 loss to Valparaiso on Friday at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
The Redbirds shot 24.6 percent from the field and were under 25 percent for the second straight game while dropping to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Valpo (8-6, 1-2) wasn't particularly hot, either, at 28.8 percent from the floor.
But the difference came beyond the 3-point arc. The Redbirds coaxed in just 2 of 22 (9 percent) from long range, while the Crusaders were 9 of 22 (41 percent).
