NORMAL — There were plenty of questions about Missouri Valley Conference basketball teams before the season began in November. Some have been answered during nonconference play.
This much is true — Wichita State remains the favorite to capture its fourth straight title when league action begins Wednesday. However, a 93-76 loss to Oklahoma State in Wichita (at the downtown Intrust Bank Arena) on Dec. 17 was stunning and showed the Shockers could be vulnerable.
Unless Wichita State runs through the league schedule with only a loss or two and slips in St. Louis in the championship game, it appears doubtful the Valley will have two teams in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years.
