The Missouri Valley Conference made history Sunday.
The leaders in the men’s basketball standings — Drake and Loyola — both dropped to 10-6 with losses to Illinois State and Southern Illinois, respectively. That ensures the league’s regular-season champion will own at least six conference defeats for the first time in the 111-year history of the MVC.
With two games left, Drake and Loyola are locked in a three-way tie for the lead with Missouri State. Northern Iowa is a game behind in fourth at 9-7.
Then comes a three-way tie for fifth at 8-8 among Bradley, Illinois State and Southern Illinois.
