VALPARAISO, Ind. — Valparaiso took advantage of Illinois State turnovers to down the Redbirds, 74-58, in a Missouri Valley Conference basketball game on Sunday at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
The Redbirds committed 18 turnovers, which Valparaiso converted into 20 points. William Tinsley paced ISU with 13 points, while Milik Yarbrough added 10 as ISU saw its four-game winning streak end in falling to 14-12 overall and 8-6 in the Valley.
ISU played without two injured starters — junior forward Phil Fayne (ankle) and junior guard Keyshawn Evans (knee), who are averaging a combined 31 points.
Valparaiso (13-14, 4-10), which began the day in last place in the Valley, received a game-high 22 points from Bakari Evelyn while Markus Golder added 16.
