CLEVELAND — Cleveland State took advantage of 21 Illinois State turnovers and went on to defeat the Redbirds, 67-63, in a nonconference women's basketball game Monday night at the Wolstein Center.
ISU (1-3) was led by Simone Goods with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. Lexy Koudelka added 12 points while Mary Crompton and Tete Maggett scored 10 each.
Cleveland State (3-1) outscored the Redbirds, 21-11, in points off turnovers. The Vikings received 17 points from Mariah Miller and 16 from Mariah White.
“We had 10 turnovers in the first half and 11 in the second that came at really critical times,” said ISU coach Kristen Gillespie.
