ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State redshirt junior TJ Barger has been named the opening Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the 2024-25 season after his performance at the Island Resort Intercollegiate in Bark River, Michigan.
Barger tied for 22nd overall in a strong field that had two Big Ten programs (Purdue and Michigan), a school from the SEC (Georgia) and the Big 12 (UCF), with one of those schools – Georgia – ranked inside of the Golf Coaches Association preseason Top-25.
The Bloomington native had rounds of 76 (+4), 74 (+2), and a career-low-tying 68 (-4) over the final round, to finish with the 218.
