DES MOINES, Iowa — Illinois State went on a 22-5 run beginning at the end of the first half and went on to rout Drake, 69-55, in a Missouri Valley Conference basketball game Wednesday night before at Knapp Center.
Phil Fayne paced ISU (13-9, 6-3) with 22 points. Zach Copeland (19), Milik Yarbrough (17) and Keyshawn Evans (11) also scored in double figures for the Redbirds.
Nick McGlynn scored 15 points to lead Drake (16-6, 5-4), which had been 9-1 at Knapp Center.
ISU entertains league-leading Loyola at 9 p.m. Saturday at Redbird Arena. The Redbirds are a game behind the Ramblers in the league standings.
