NORMAL — Tyrelle Chadwick haunted Valparaiso with more than his 95 mph fastball Saturday at Duffy Bass Field.
The hard-throwing Illinois State sophomore continued his rise with six shutout innings as the Redbirds tripped the Beacons 3-1.
“The biggest thing for me this year in general and today is being able to get my secondary stuff over early in counts, being able to get the slider and change up over,” Chadwick said.
“The slider was kind of the go-to today. Teams aren’t able to sit dead on fastball and being able to switch it up a little bit and execute from there.
