Spack seeks offensive progress in spring drills

NORMAL — When asked if he desires increased production from his receiving group, Illinois State football coach Brock Spack nods in the affirmative.

Such is the mood of a coach who took his team to the FCS national championship game in recent memory but holds an uninspiring 12-11 record over the past two seasons.

"I've tweaked some things," said Spack, whose team opened spring practice Friday. "A lot of the things we do won't change. But part of the (coaching staff) changes were because we were getting off the beaten path and getting away from what I thought was important.
