Reliever Tyler Hutchinson repelled a ninth-inning rally and picked up his first save of the season as the Heartland Community College baseball team won its 10th straight game by defeating Lakeland College, 9-8, on Monday at The Corn Crib in Normal.
Heartland (11-2) had carried a 9-4 lead into the ninth, helped by Colin Ridout's triple and two RBIs. Daniel Wasinger added a double and two RBIs for the Hawks.
Thomas Bushnell (2-0) was the winning pitcher, hurling four strong innings in relief of starter Tyler Schmidt before giving way to Jordan Johnston to start the ninth.
