ST. LOUIS -- It’s been one of the great mysteries surrounding Bradley basketball: What became of David Thirdkill?
One of Dick Versace’s cornerstone players that brought the program back to national prominence in the early 1980s, the St. Louis native scored 1,261 points (13.4 average) and grabbed 528 rebounds (5.6) in his three-year career from 1979-82.
But Thirdkill’s greatest contribution to the team was his defensive skill and toughness, prompting Versace to dub him “The Sheriff” because of how he locked up the guy he was guarding.
