NORMAL — Another scholarship has opened for Illinois State's basketball team as Matt Hein announced Thursday he has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
The 6-foot-3 Hein will have one year of eligibility remaining. He will be immediately eligible at another school for the 2019-20 season as a graduate transfer.
Hein's departure leaves ISU head coach Dan Muller and his staff with four scholarships available.
After redshirting as a freshman in the 2015-16 season, Hein played three years for the Redbirds, mainly in a reserve role. He averaged 2.5 points and 1.
