TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Indiana State zoomed out to a 21-4 lead and Illinois State was playing catch up the rest of the way as the Sycamores took a 73-50 victory in a Missouri Valley Conference basketball game Wednesday night before a Hulman Center crowd of 3,253.
The Redbirds lost their fifth straight game and fell to 14-14 overall and 7-8 in the Valley. ISU faces MVC co-leader Drake at 1 p.m. Sunday at Redbird Arena on Senior Day.
Phil Fayne paced ISU with 16 points while Milik Yarbrough added 13 and Matt Chastain had 11. ISU went 3 of 17 beyond the arc and committed a season-high 20 turnovers.
