NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team seeks its first midweek win of the 2016 season when it heads to Valparaiso, Indiana, for a non-conference tilt at Valparaiso Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. CT at Emory G. Bauer Field.
Illinois State (8-19) enters the game after winning the middle game of a three-game series with Xavier over the weekend at Duffy Bass Field. The Redbirds scored a 6-5, come-from-behind win Saturday to end a 10-game losing streak, the program's longest winless stretch in 20 years.
Steve Heilenbach pitched six shutout innings in the opener against Xavier Friday, but the Redbird bullpen allowed 12 runs over the final three innings in a 12-1 loss.
