FARGO, N.D. – It was a tale of two defenses Saturday afternoon, as No. 13 Illinois State head No. 1 North Dakota State without a touchdown at home for the first time since 2002, but the defending national champion Bison (14-0) were able to hold the Redbirds (10-5) to just a field goal in a 9-3 victory in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs at the Fargodome.
How It Happened:
• After a scoreless first quarter by both teams, the Bison got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter on a 38-yard field goal by Griffin Crosa that made the score 3-0 with 14:23 left in the period.
