EAST LANSING, Mich. – It was a close neutral court match Saturday afternoon at Michigan State between Illinois State and Xavier that could have gone either way, but Xavier (6-4) was able to take some key points when needed and defeated the Redbirds (5-2) by a score of 5-2 at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.
"This one is a hard one to get past," ISU head coach Maja Kovacek said. "We definitely had opportunities in both doubles and singles to get to those four points we needed. We will have to dig deep and show a lot of resiliency tomorrow to play well enough to beat Michigan State.
