NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State Football's October 15 game against South Dakota will be its inaugural Mental Health Awareness Game as part of their partnership with Hilinski's Hope.
During the game, the student-athletes will be showcasing a green ribbon on the back of their helmet with a "3" in the middle to honor Tyler Hilinski, Washington State quarterback that died by suicide in 2018. The team will also be displaying the mental health ribbon on their uniforms to remember those lost and those suffering in silence. Additionally, staff members will be wearing lapel pins and cheerleading will be wearing hair ribbons with the mental health awareness logo displayed.
