NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Athletics, along with the entire Illinois State University community took part in the fifth-annual Birds Give Back campaign on Feb. 23. This year, Illinois State Athletics focused their efforts on fundraising for the newly created Student-Athlete Well-Being Fund and the day's efforts resulted in 308 total gifts and $53,701 raised.
The Student-Athlete Well-Being Fund was created to provide mental health resources for student-athletes in order to improve performance in all areas of life as a Redbird. In partnership with newly hired Mental Health Counselor, Dr. Lindsay Maxon, the funds raised will provide services that fully encompass our student-athletes' emotional, psychological, and social well-being while helping create a sustainable, healthy, and high-performing environment.
