ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Freshman guard Lasha Petree (Detroit, Mich./Arbor Prep) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, earning the honor for the fifth time this year, according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.
Petree averaged a team-best 20.0 points per game in a pair of victories and also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist 0.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game last week. She was 6-for-15 from three-point range (40%) and also made 8-of-10 free throws in the wins.
Petree turned in her sixth 20-point game of the season in Thursday's win against Valparaiso, collecting 21 points to go with six rebounds, one assist and one steal.
