FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Tylor Petkovich ran himself into a brick wall in the form of Colorado State safety Jordan Fogal on Saturday at Canvas Stadium.
That didn't prevent the Illinois State tight end from catching — and remarkably hanging on to — a 12-yard third-quarter touchdown pass from Brady Davis in the Redbirds' eye-opening 35-19 victory over the Bowl Subdivision Rams.
"I didn't see the guy coming," Petkovich said. "I actually read the wrong coverage. I should have run a corner (route). But I ran right into the guy."
Fogal was ejected from the game when the hit on Petkovich was ruled targeting.
