NORMAL — Shannon Felde and her Illinois State softball teammates relished the chance Saturday to take the field at Marian Kneer Stadium after 32 games away from home to start the season.
Northern Iowa limited ISU to 10 hits in 14 innings as the Panthers swept a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader by scores of 6-2 and 5-0.
ISU (11-23) scored 57 runs against Evansville and Indiana State in winning its first five Valley games. But last weekend's series against Southern Illinois was canceled because of rain. So the Redbirds had only one game in the previous 13 days before Saturday, a 2-1 noconference loss at Illinois on Wednesday.
